November Catch-Up Part 1

Whilst I love writing articles for my readers sometimes other people say things just a little bit better than me! Or at least are better placed to say them! So here’s my round-up of the blog, stories, and articles you might have missed of the last couple of weeks or I just think you might find useful!

Articles
Chris Weidman, BJ Penn and the “just one more beer” problem – Combat Sports Clinic – Not strictly BJJ but still a great read and blog by Rosi Sexton looking at the temptation faced by fighters to do one more match.

How Do You Train Jiu Jitsu When Your Time is Limited? – GD Jiu Jitsu – Regular readers will know that I’ve been strongly influenced by the Part-Time Grappler but its always good to read another blog on managing your time and approaches to training.

Focusing on Fundamentals – The Part-Time Grappler – Speaking of the Part-Time Grappler this his latest blog about the role fundamentals play in the development of BJJ and martial arts.

Mario Reis Suffers Backlash From Female BJJ Community – BJJ Heroes – I try not to post any negative article about women’s BJJ but sometimes it’s important to highlight that although a lot of the sport recognize and support women’s BJJ it isn’t universal (yet!).

From the Archives
Your Ideal Weight for Competition – A blog about working out the best weight category for you as a grappler

What I’m listening to….
I’m not yet facing the menopause but its something all women face at some point. I found this podcast from Women in Sport as an interesting intro on the effects of the Menopause on performance and I suspect it will be a topic I’ll be blogging on in the future.

Technical Takeaway
He may only be a purple belt now but let’s be honest Nick Rodriguez has been making a name for himself in no-gi to say the least lol! So this week a no-gi variation of the cartwheel pass.
